AAAE Airport Master Firefighter (AMF) Practice Exam 2026 - Free AMF Practice Questions and Study Guide

In the context of airport firefighting, an Index B classification requires two vehicles to ensure adequate protection and rapid response capabilities during an incident. Index classifications are determined by factors such as the size of the aircraft and potential fire risk.

For Index B, which typically refers to commercial aircraft with a certain maximum seating capacity, the requirement for two vehicles allows for a coordinated response to effectively combat fires and manage emergencies. This configuration helps ensure that sufficient resources—such as water or foam—are available, and it provides redundancy in case one vehicle becomes ineffective or is otherwise occupied.

This dual-vehicle requirement supports the overarching goal of airport firefighting, which is to mitigate risks and protect lives, property, and the environment surrounding aviation operations.
